Discussion & Documentation
Johann Heinrich Böse, a chimney sweeper (Schornsteinfeger), and his wife, the former widow Anna Maria Dorothea Knaub, settled in the Volga German colony of Merkel on 28 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 30 along with stepson Johann Ludwig Knaub.
The 1767 census records that Johann Heinrich Böse came from the village of Liptitz in Sachsen (Saxony).
There are no known surviving male descendants of the Böse family among the Volga German colonies.
