Discussion & Documentation

Konrad Brandt, a farmer, and his wife Elisabeth arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.

Conrad Brand and his wife Elisabetha are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Elisabetha died en route.

Konrad is believed to be recorded on the list of Beauregard Recruits that accompanies the 1767 census in Household No. 141 along with his new wife Margaretha.

They are believed to be the parents of Heinrich Brandt from Katharinenstadt who is recorded on the 1798 census of Paulskaya in Household No. Pl55 and Jakob Brandt who had moved from Katharinenstadt to Paulskaya in 1792 and is recorded there on the 1798 census in Household No. Pl26.

In 1783, Johann Konrad Brandt and his family moved from Kind to Luzern. Konrad Brandt from Kind is recorded on the 1798 census of Luzern in Household No. Lz26.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Konrad Brandt came from the German region of Mainz while the 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Hessbach.
