Martin Braun, a sawyer, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the ship Der Jager under the command of Skipper Gabriel Wild.
The parents died after arrival in Russia. The surviving children settled in the Volga German colony of Laub on 12 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 12 along with the Johann Michael Weber family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Weber and Braun families.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Martin Braun came from the German region of Hamburg.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Braun family among the Volga German colonies.
