Martin Braun, a sawyer (Säger), his wife Susanna, and children (Anna, age 8; Wilhelm, age 5; Lorenz, age 1¼) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 11 June 1766 aboard a snow-brig named Der Jäger (The Hunter) under the command of Skipper Gabriel Will.
Widow Susanna Braun is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that she died in route.
Anna Margaretha Braun (age 9) and Wilhelm Braun (age 6), the orphaned children of Martin Braun, are recorded on the 1767 census of Laub in Household No. 12 along with the Johann Michael Weber family. They had arrived in Laub on 12 July 1767. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Weber and Braun families.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Martin Braun came from the German region of Hamburg. The 1767 census does not record from where the orphaned Braun children came.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Braun family among the Volga German colonies.
