Braun (Lauwe)*
Philipp Brauer [sic], a farmer, his wife Sophia Philippina, and daughter Elisabeth Dorothea (age 4) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 13 September 1766 aboard the Russian galliot Citadel under the command of Midshipman Grigory Bukharin.
Johann Philip Braun, his wife Sophia Philippina, and children (Elisabeth, age 4; Ludwig Philip, born en route) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Johann Philip died en route.
Widow Sophia Philippina remarried to Friedrich Körner and settled in the Volga German colony of Lauwe on 5 September 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census [with surname translated as Krämer] in Household No. 53. The surname of the stepdaughter Elisabeth Dorothea (age 5) is not recorded.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Philipp Braun came from the German region of Löwenstein.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Braun family among the Volga German colonies.
