Johann Burghardt, a farmer, and his wife Barbara are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Kaneau in Household No. 20.

It is not known in which colony the settled.

The 1767 census records that Johann Burghardt came from the German village of Benetsham.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Burghardt family among the Volga German colonies.
