Discussion & Documentation

Widow Anna Butterweck and her daughter Maria (age 7) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard an English barque named George under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair along with the single Elisabeth [Walter] (age 21).

Anna Butterweck and her daughter Maria Catharina (age 7) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with Elisabeth Walter (age 21).

It is not known in which colony Anna Butterweck and her daughter settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Anna Butterweck came from the German region of Nassau.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Butterweck family among the Volga German colonies.
