Johann Peter Deiss from Merenberg in the district of Weilburg & Maria Xtina [Christina] Catharina [surname not recorded] from Burg Schwalbach were marrried on 15 April 1766 in the City Lutheran Church in Friedberg.
Johann Peter Deis, a farmer, his wife Maria, and son Andreas (age 1½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the ship Der Jager under the command of Skipper Gabriel Wild.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Laub on 12 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 2.
The 1767 census records that Johann Peter Deis came from the German village of Merenberg in the Nassau-Weilburg region.
