Discussion & Documentation:

Johann Gottlieb Törmer & Marie Sophie Fuchs were married on 8 May 1766 in Roßlau.

Gottlieb Törmer, a miller (Müller), his wife Margaretha Barbara, and his father Christian arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the Danish galliot Nord Stern under the command of Skipper Detlev Belling.

Gottlieb Türmer [sic], his wife Barbara, and his father Christian are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Jost on 19 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 56.

Gottlieb Törmer and his wife are recorded on the 1798 census of Jost in Household No. Jo05.

The death of Gottlieb Törmer in 1803 is recorded on the 1811 census of Jost in Household No. 5.

The 1767 census records that Johann Gottlieb Törmer came from the German village of Mönau in the region of Sachsen (Saxony).

There do not appear to be any surviving male descendants of this Törmer family among the Volga German colonies.
