Discussion & Documentation

Jakob Dewatt [sic] & Anna Marg. Jahn were married on 22 May 1766 in the Reformed Church in Lübeck.

Jakob Dewald, a farmer, and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard an English barque named George under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.

Jacob Dewaldt [sic] and his wife Anan Margaretha are recorded on the list of those being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Nieder-Monjou on 7 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 6.

In 1786, Christian Dewald moved from Nieder-Monjou to Astrakhan.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Jakob Dewald came from the German region of Hanau while the 1767 census records that Jakob Dewald came from the region of Hannover.
