Christian Donad, a soldier (Soldat), and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Graf on 20 August 1767. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 46 along with his wife Anna Margaretha and children (Johann Franziskus, age 11; Maria Regina, age 5).

The 1767 census records that Christian Donad came from the German village of Ostritz in the region of Sachsen (Saxony).
