Discussion & Documentation

Mattias Eichart, a merchant (Kaufmann), and his wife Anna Margaretha settled in the Volga German colony of Semenovka on 24 July 1767 where they are recorded on the 1767 Census in Household No. 31.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Mattias Eichart came from the German town of Salmünster in the Fulda region.

This surname does not appear to continue among the Volga German colonies.
