Ewald (Leichtling)
Jakob Ewald, a farmer, his wife Margaretha, and children (Friedrich, age 8; Katharina, age 6; Dorothea, age 4; Margaretha, age 1½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 31 May 1766 aboard the pink Slon under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Leichtling on 14 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 29.
The widow of son Friedrich and his children are believed to be recorded on the 1798 census of Semenovka in Household No. Se18.
The 1767 census records that Jakob Ewald came from the German village of Aschaffenburg.
