Discussion & Documentation

Johann Fell, a farmer, his wife Elisabeth, and children (Anna, age 20; Agnesia, age 18; Elisabeth, age 12; Johann [Adam], age 11) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 June 1766 aboard the hooker Anna Katharina under the command of Skipper Adolph Scharpenberg.

The orphaned children of Johann & Elisabeth Fell are recorded on the 1767 census of Keller. Johann Adam (age 12) is recorded there in Household No. 27. Agnesia (age 18) is living in Household No. 28 along with the Adam Grollmann family who had arrived in Oranienbaum aboard the same ship with them. Elisabeth (age 12) is living in Household No. 32 along with the Johannes Kloster family who had also arrived in Oranienbaum aboard the same ship with them.

Johann Adam Fell moved from Neu-Kolonie to Rothammel.

In 1798, he is recorded in Household No. Lg20 in the colony of Leichtling.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Fell came from the German region of Mainz. The 1767 census does not record from where the Fell orphans came.
