Discussion & Documentation

Georg Fischer, a carpenter (Zimmermann), and his wife Dorothea arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a ship named Die Zwei Gebrüder (The Two Brothers) under the command of Skipper Nicolaus Peter Pinck.

Georg Fischer and his wife Anna Dorothea are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Orlovskaya on 3 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 65 along with orphan Leberecht Lampe (age 6). The census does not record a relationship between the Fischer and Lampe families.

Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Georg Fischer came from the German region of Dessau.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Fischer family among the Volga German colonies.
