Flach / Flack (Luzern)

There are two Flach families that arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.

They both settled in the Volga German colony of Luzern in 1768. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.

(1) Heinrich Flach, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Christian, age 7; Elisabeth, age 4; Johann, age 2) arrived in Oranienbaum.

Heinrich Flach, his wife Anna Maria, and children (Christian, age 6; Elisabeth, age 5; Johannes, age 2½) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Heinrich Flach (age 38), a farmer, and his family are recorded on the 1767 Beauregard recruiter list in Household No. 128.

(2) Valentin Flach, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and children (Katharina, age 8; Friedrich, age 5) arrived in Oranienbaum.

Valentin Flach, his wife Catharina, and children (Maria Catharina, age 8; Friedr. Adam, age 6; Anna Maria, born en route) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Valentin Flach (age 34), a farmer, and his family are recorded on the 1767 Beauregard recruiter list in Household No. 129.

In 1784, Friedrich Adam Flach moved from Luzern to Ober-Monjou.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that both of these families came from the German region of Trier. The 1767 census records that these families came from the German village of Breitfurt in the Trier region.
