Discussion & Documentation

Michael Flachs, a farmer, his wife Maria, and daughter Marianna (age 5¼) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Concordia under the command of Skipper Jakob Bauert.

Michel [sic] Flachs and his wife Maria Eva are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Maria Eva died en route.

It is not known in which colony Michael Flachs settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Michael Flachs came from the German region of Mainz.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Flachs family among the Volga German colonies.
