Frank (Dönhof)

Johann Heinrich Frank, son of Johann Peter & Anna Maria Frank, was born 4 January 1711 in Pfedelbach. He married 3 September 1736 in Adolzfurt to Maria Magdalena Bohn, daughter of Jacob Bohn & Maria Magdalena Dab. Maria Magdalena Bohn had been born 30 November 1704 & baptized 1 December 1704 in Langenbeutingen.

The baptisms of 5 children born to Johann Heinrich Frank & Maria Magdalena Bohn are recorded in the parish register of Langenbeutingen: (1) Johann Friedrich, born 5 November 1736; (2) Christian, born 8 April 1739; (3) Anton Christian, born 19 February 1741; (4) Maria Christina, born 23 June 1744; and (5) Johann Michael, born 15 January 1746.

Heinrich Frank and his family immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) where they settled in the colony of Neuduvenstedt.

Anton Christian Franck [sic] and Anna Maria Bauer were married on 27 July 1762 in the parish of Großsolt.

Johann Michael Frank married Maria Katharina Braun.

Johann Heinrich Frank, a farmer, and his wife Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port in Oranienbaum on 3 June 1766 aboard the galliot Adler under the command of Skipper Paul Adolph Drath. Arriving with them were their sons: (1) Anton Frank, a farmer, and his wife Anna; and (2) Michael Frank, a farmer, and his wife Maria.

Also arriving in Oranienbaum with the Frank family was Elisabeth Altergott, the widow of Friedrich Altergott, and her family. After Maria, the wife of Johann Heinrich Frank died, he married Elisabeth Altergott.

The combined Frank/Altergott family settled in the colony of Dönhof. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Households No. 88 (Heinrich Frank), No. 89 (Anton Christian Frank), No. 90 (Johann Michael Frank), No. 91 (Ludwig Altergott), and No. 94 (Friedrich Altergott).

Several Frank families from Dönhof are recorded in Neu-Bauer after 1858.

Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Johann Heinrich Frank and his sons came from the German region of Hohenlohe.
