Discussion & Documentation

Eb[er]hard Friedrich, a farmer, and his wife Gelle arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.

Widow Gela Friedrich is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

It is not known in which colony she settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Eb[er]hard Friedrich came from the German region of Hessen.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Friedrich family among the Volga German colonies.
