Discussion & Documentation

Hans Friedrichsen, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 3 June 1766 aboard the galliot Adler under the command of Skipper Paul Adolph Drath.

He settled in the Volga German colony of Dinkel on 12 July 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 14 along with his new wife, the widow Elisabeth Nikolaisen and her sons.

The 1767 census records that Hans Friedrichsen came from the village of Osen in Denmark.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
