Discussion & Documentation

Christoph Fritz, a farmer, his wife Barbara, and children (Wilhelm, age 4; Eva, age 2½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 10 August 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Nikolaus Peter Pinkom.

Christoph Fritz, his [new?] wife Christina, and children (Wilhelm, age 4¼; Elisabeth, age 2¼) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that father Christoph died in route.

It is not known in which colony this Fritz family settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Christoph Fritz came from the German region of Darmstadt.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Fritz family among the Volga German colonies.
