Martin Göbel, a farmer, and his wife Jakobina settled in the Volga German colony of Philippsfeld on 17 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 27.

In 1769, Martin Göbel moved from Philippsfeld to Biberstein.

Martin Göbel is recorded on the 1798 census of Biberstein in Household No. Bb02.

The 1767 census records that Martin Göbel came from the German village of Ketzeman.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Göbel family among the Volga German colonies.
