Gallinger
There are two Gallinger families that arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax. They both settled in the Volga German colony of Hildmann on 20 June 1767. Their relationship to each other is not recorded.
(1) Johann[es] Gallinger, a velvet fabric weaver (Samtstoffweber), his wife Julianna, and children (Friedrich, age 16; Anna, age 4) arrived in Oranienbaum. They are recorded on the 1767 census of Hildmann in Household No. 33.
(2) Konrad Gallinger, a single man, arrived in Oranienbaum. He is recorded on the 1767 census of Hildmann in household No. 34 along with his new wife Anna Kunigunda. The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Konrad Gallinger was a weaver while the 1767 census records that he was a farmer.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that both of these Gallinger families came from the German region of Mainz. The 1767 census records that both came from the German village of Heiligenstadt.
