Johann Sebastian Gateau, an infantryman (Grenadier), his wife Anna, and daughter Katharina (age 1) are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 13 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Zug in 1768.

Sebastian Gateau and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Zug in Household No. Zg01.

The 1767 census records that Johann Sebastian Gateau came from the German village of Serser [?].
