Discussion & Documentation

Philipp Geiger, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Graf on 10 June 1766. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 8 along with his wife Susanna, son Georg Adam (age 8) from his first marriage, and daughter Anna Barbara (age 3) from his second marriage. Also living with them is orphan Peter Walter (age 17). The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Geiger and Walter families.

The 1767 census records that Philipp Geiger came from the German village of Heidelberg in the Kurpfalz region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Geiger family among the Volga German colonies.
