Gette / Götte (Kamenka)
Johann Götte arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 20 May 1766 aboard the Danzig galliot Die Hoffnung under the command of Skipper Johann Heschke. He settled in the Volga German colony of Kamenka and is recorded there along with his new wife on the 1767 census in Household No. 66.
By the time of the 1798 census, Johann Götte is living in the colony of Husaren (Hn32).
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Götte is a tin maker while the 1767 census records that he is a stove maker (Ofenmacher). The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Götte came from Ester, perhaps referring to an area in the mountains of southern Bavaria. The 1767 census records that Johann Götte is from Italy.
