Discussion & Documentation
Andreas Gottkan, a stocking weaver (Strumpfwirker), his wife Elisabeth, and son Johannes (age 1) are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Beauregard in Household No. 17.
It is not known in which colony they settled.
The 1767 census records that Andreas Gottkan came from the German region of Nassau-Usingen.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Gottkan family among the Volga German colonies.
