Grünewald (Schwab)
Johann Christian [sic] Grünewald, a farmer, his wife Maria, and children (Eva, age 18; Johann [Nikolaus], age 16; Johann Jakob, age 13; Peter, age 11; Christoph, age 8) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Johann Hermann Anderson.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Schwab on 12 September 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 34.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Christian [sic] Grünewald came from the German region of Pfalz. The 1767 census records that Johann Christoph [sic] Grünwald came from the German village of Habach.
