Johann Grasson, a farmer, and his wife Elisabeth settled in the Volga German colony of Merkel on 28 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 12.

The 1767 census records that Johann Grasson came from the German village of Debrecen in Austria.

There are no known surviving male descendants of this family that continue among the Volga German colonies.
