Gries (Dinkel)
Heinrich Gries, a farmer, and his family immigrated in 1761 to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) where they remained until 1765.
They arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 3 June 1766 aboard the galliot Adler under the command of Skipper Paul Dolph Drath.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Dinkel on 12 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 9.
Both the Eichhorn book and the 1767 census record that Heinrich Gries came from the German village of Ziegenberg in the area of Darmstadt.
There do not appear to be any surviving male descendants of this family among the Volga German colonies.
