Discussion & Documentation

The widow of Johann Gentermann and her children (Karl, age 7; Susanna, age 2½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 August 1766 aboard the galliot named Die Perle (The Pearl) under the command of Skipper Gerhardt Hermann Thomsen.

Widow Elisabeth Gundermann and her children (Karl, age 7; Susanna, age 3) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

It is not known in which colony they settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that the widow of Johann Gentermann came from the German region of Darmstadt.
