Simon Hötsch, a tanner (Gerber), settled in the Volga German colony of Stahl am Tarlyk on 13 August 1767.
He married Anna Magdalena, the widow of Detlef Schung who had died on 13 August 1767. Simon Hötsch and his wife Anna Magdalena are recorded on the 1767 census of Stahl am Tarlyk in Household No. 8.
The 1767 census records that Simon Hötsch came from the German village of Großleinungen [?] in the Mansfeld region.
