They settled in the Volga German colony of Shcherbakovka on 15 June 1765.

Johannes Hanschuh, a farmer, his wife Barbara, and children (Georg Paul, age 18; Anna Katharina, age 17; Maria Katharina, age 7) are recorded on the 1767 census of Shcherbakovka in Household No. 12.

Johann Peter Hanschuh, also a farmer and son of Johannes Hanschuh, his wife Anna Margaretha, and daughter Maria Christina (age 1) are recorded on the 1767 census of Shcherbakovka in Household No. 13.

Widower Johann[es] Handschu, his son Paul, and Paul's family are recorded on the 1798 census of Shcherbakovka in Household No. Sv14.

The following are believed to be children of the aforementioned Johann Peter Handschu and are recorded on the 1798 census of Shcherbakovka in Household No. Sv15: Konrad (age 23); Anna Margaretha (age 16); Johann Georg (age 12). A note records that Johann Georg is working in the colony of Huck.
