Friedrich Hanisch, a farmer, and his wife Anna Rosina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 21 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig Mercurius under the command of Skipper Christian Heinrich Abelßen.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Urbach on 13 July 1767. Anna Rosina died, and Friedrich remarried to Anna Maria, the widow of Johann Faust.

They are recorded on the 1767 census in Household No. 10. The 1767 census records that Friedrich Hanisch came from the German town of Dresden in Sachsen (Saxony).

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
