Johann Adam Hatzer, a craftsman (Handwerker), his wife Maria Anna, and stepdaughter Anna Barbara, age 10 [surname not recorded] settled in the Volga German colony of Graf on 10 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 34.

The 1767 census records that Johann Adam Hatzer came from the German village of Erfurt in the Sachsen (Saxony) region and that Maria Anna came from the village of Mannheim in the Kurpfalz region.
