Ignatius Hauer, a farmer, his wife Margaretha, and son Bernhard (age 8) are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Kaneau in Household No. 34 along with his stepchildren (Kaspar Meier, age 12; Eva Meier, age 9).

It is not known in which colony they settled.

The 1767 census records that Ignatius Hauer came from the German village of Neufeld.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Hauer family among the Volga German colonies.
