Discussion & Documentation

Gottfried Haupt, a farmer, and his wife Katharina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 10 August 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Nikolaus Peter Pink.

Johann Gottf. Haubt [sic] and his wife Cathrina [sic] Mar. are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Cathrina died in route.

It is not known in which colony they settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Gottfried Haupt came from the German region of Dessau.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Haupt family among the Volga German colonies
