Hefenieder

Johann Konrad Heffeneider and his wife Anna Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 13 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Lieutenant Gawril Poduzki.

Johann Conrad Hefenöter, his wife Anna Maira, and daughter Eva Catrina (born en route) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that newborn daughter Eva Catrina also died en route.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Norka on 26 August 1767 where they are recorded on the 1767 census in Household No. 181.

Konrad Heffeneider and his family are recorded on the 1775 census of Norka in Household No. 199.

Konrad Hefenieder and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Norka in Household No. 209 along with a note that son Johannes is working in the colony of Kukkus.

The death of Konrad Hefenieder in 1808 is recorded on the 1811 census of Norka in Household No. 210 along with a note that his son Johannes relocated ot the colony of Laub in 1801 [sic].

Johann[es] Hefenieder from Norka is recorded on the 1811 census of Laub in Household No. 7 along with a note that he had arrived in Laub from Norka in 1799 [sic].

Johannes Hefenieder and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Laub in Household No. 108 with a note that they relocated to the colony of Bangert.

Johannes Hefenieder from Laub and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Bangert in Household No. 7 with a note that Johannes had died in 1825.

Otto Hefenieder, son of Konrad Hefenieder, and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Norka in Household No. 398.

Heinrich Hefenieder from Norka, his family, and his brother Jost are recorded on the 1857 census of Hoffental.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Konrad Heffeneider is a farmer from the district of Riedesel while the 1767 census records that he is a craftsman (Handwerker) from Schlitz.

Descendants of this family that immigrated to North America generally use the spelling of Hefenieder or Hefeneider.
