Discussion & Documentation

Johann Peter Heÿl, son of Georg & Anna Maria Heÿl, was born 10 February 1715 in Hailer. He married in Hailer on 22 February 1742 to Anna Catharina Weber, daughter of Johann Daniel & Elisabetha Weber. She had been born 6 November 1719 and baptized 9 November 1719 in Hailer.

Johann Peter Heÿl and Anna Catharina Weber had two children, both born in Hailer: (1) Johann Conrad, born 27 December 1742, baptized 30 December 1742; and (2) Anna Margaretha, born 3 June 1745, baptized 7 June 1745.

Anna Margaretha Heil married Georg Heinrich Engel on 7 November 1765 in Hailer. Georg Heinrich Engel (son of Johann Conrad Engel) was born 1 April and baptized 6 April 1732 in Hailer.

Peter Heil, a farmer, his wife [Anna] Katharina, and son Konrad (age 22) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 August 1766 aboard the pink Slon under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov. Daughter Anna Margaretha and her husband Georg Heinrich Engel arrived in Oranienbaum on the same ship with them. [See Engel Family.]

They settled in the Volga German colony of Balzer on 8 August 1767. Widow Anna Katharina Keil is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 96 along with her daughter and son-in-law (Heinrich Engel). Son Konrad Heil is recorded on the 1767 census of Balzer in Household No. 92 along with his [new] wife Eleonora [Juncker]. [See Juncker Family.]

In 1790, Johann Heil moved from Balzer to Lauwe.

Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that this Heil family came from the German region of Isenburg.
