Heller (Straub)
Andreas Heller, a farmer, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the ship Der Junge Heinrich under the command of Skipper Heinrich Niemann.
The parents died after arriving in Russia and the surviving children (Maria Katharina, age 14; Johann Christoph, age 11) settled in the Volga German colony of Straub on 12 July 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 42 along with the Matthias Bäcker family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Heller and Bäcker families.
The 1798 census of Jost records Christoph Heller in Household No. Jo22.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Andreas Heller came from the German region of Nassau.
