Johann Georg Henkel, a farmer, his wife Anna Margaretha, and children (Mattias, age 15; Anna Katharina, age 12; Leonhard, age 6; Anna Eva, age 1) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 August 1766 aboard the galliot named Die Perle (The Pearl) under the command of Skipper Gerhardt Hermann Thomsen.
Joh. Henrich Hinkel [sic], his wife Anna Margaretha, and children (Math., age 15; Anna Cathrina, age 13; Bernhard, age 6) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that both parents died in route.
It is not known in which colony the surviving children settled.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Georg Henkel came from the German region of Schlitz.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Henkel family among the Volga German colonies.
