Georg Herrmann, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Graf on 10 June 1766. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 28 along with his wife Anna Maria and children (Mathias, age 12; Maria Anna, age ½).

The 1767 census records that Georg Herrmann came from the German village of Homberg an der Ohm in the Darmstadt region.
