Hertlein
Johann[es] Hertling [sic], a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Anna, age 10; Heinrich, age 9; Anton, age 7; Johann, age 4) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard an English frigate under the command of Skipper Adam Beerfeier.
Johannes Hertling [sic], his wife Anna Maria, and sons (Heinrich, age 9; Johann Antonius, age 9 [sic]) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Ober-Monjou on 23 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 29.
In 1778, widow Anna Maria Hertling and her children moved from Ober-Monjou to Orlovskaya.
In 1786, Heinrich Hertling and his wife moved from Orlovskaya to Katharinenstadt.
Heinrich Hertlein from Orlovskaya and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. Ka100.
The death of Heinrich Hertlein in 1820 is recorded on the 1834 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 200.
The 1767 census records that Johannes Hertling came from the German village of Orlich [?] in the Trier region.
