Dietrich Hesse, a farmer, and his wife Magdalena settled in the Volga German colony of Stahl am Tarlyk on 5 September 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in household No. 46.

The 1767 census records that Dietrich Hesse came from the town of Kiel.
