Discussion & Documentation

Jakob Hessenbeie, his wife Maria Elisabeth, and son Jakob immigrated to Russia. Father Jakob died and his widow remarried to Friedrich Marquardt.

The Marquardts are recorded on the 1767 census of Grimm in Household No. 34 along with stepson Jakob Hessenbeie (age 7).

The Marquardts are recorded on the 1775 census of Grimm in Household No. 112, but Jakob Hessenbeie is not recorded there so is assumed to have died.

This surname is not known to continue among the Volga German colonies.
