Hill(e)mann*

Johann Adam Hillermann [sic], a farmer, his wife Anna Barbara, and children (Georg Adam, age 16; Justina, 10; Johann Adam, age 9; Johann Gottfried, age 6; Anna Margaretha, age 3) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 21 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig Mercurius under the command of Skipper Christian Heinrich Abelßen.

Father Johann Adam died, and Anna Barbara remarried to Johann Martin Möserburg. The combined Möserburg/Hillmann family settled in the Volga German colony of Jost on 16 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 42.

[Georg] Adam Hillemann [sic] and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Jost in Household No. Jo35. Justina Hillemann [sic] is recorded on the 1798 census of Jost in Household No. Jo22 as widow of Nikolaus Lemmermann and wife of Christoph Heller.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Adam Hillermann [sic] came from the German village of Mühlhausen.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
