Hoffmann (Jost-2)
Johann[es] Hoffmann, a cobbler, his wife Dorothea, and children (Dorothea Sophia, age 13; Katharina Sophia, age 6; Johann August, age 4) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aboard the Danish galliot Der Engel Rafael under the command of Skipper Ehlert Kongsted.
Johannes Hoffmann, a cobbler (Schuhmacher), his wife Dorothea Elisabeth, and children (Dorothea Sophia, age 14; Katharina Sophia, age 10; Johann Joachim, age 1) are recorded on the 1767 census of Jost in Household No. 40. They had settled there on 16 August 1767.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann[es] Hoffmann came from the German region of Mecklenburg. The 1767 census records that Johannes Hoffmann came from the German village of Schwerin in the Mecklenburg region.
