Nikolaus Hoffmann, a farmer, his wife Maria, and daughter Maria (age ½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 11 June 1766 aboard a ship named Der Junge Heinrich (The Young Henry) under the command of Skipper Heinrich Niemann.
Widow Maria Hoffmann is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that she died in route.
If the daughter Maria was with her and survived the transport, it is not known in which colony she settled.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Nikolaus Hoffmann came from the German region of Nassau.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Hoffmann family among the Volga German colonies.
