Johann Gottlieb Horth and his wife Anna Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the galliot Adler under the command of Skipper Paul Adam Drath.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Laub on 15 September 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 47.
Gottlieb Horth and his family are recorded on the 1811 census of Laub in Household No. 11 along with a note that his son Nikolaus relocated to the colony of Hockerberg in 1800.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Gottlieb Horth was a farmer while the 1767 census records that he was a hosier (Strumpfwirker).
The 1767 census records that Gottlieb Horth came from the German village of Backnang in the Württemberg district.
