Discussion & Documentation

Widower Johannes Hummel (age 70) and his sons are recorded on the 1798 census of Hummel in Household No. Hm08.

The descendants of Johannes Hummel are recorded on the 1834 census of Hummel in Households No. 13 & 36.

It appears that it is after Johannes Hummel that the colony got its German name.
