Adam Ihl, a farmer, his wife Elisabeth, and children (Anna, age 12; Elisabeth, age 10; Adam, age 5) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax along with Philipp Ihl, a single farmer.

Adam Ihl, his wife Elisabetha, and children (Joh. Philip, age 20; Anna Maria, age 12; Elisabetha, age 10¼; Joh. Adam, age 6)  are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Adam Ihl and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Zug in Household No. Zg30.

Philipp Ihl and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Zug in Household No. Zg21.

The 1767 census records that both Adam & Philipp Ihl came from the German region of Mainz.
